Laura Bokhoven
documentary filmmaker / visual researcher
about
Laura Bokhoven (Utrecht, 1995) completed her bachelor’s degree in Art History at the University of Amsterdam in 2018 and afterwards worked as an assistant curator in contemporary art space Cargo in Context. Here she became interested in being an artist herself and switched to the Netherlands Film Academy, where she studied to become a documentary director.
During covid she made the short film “Ode “aan de Nacht” in which she portrayed the night as a character with a voice, who wanders through the empty city in search of its nocturnal animals. In 2022 she graduated with the documentary roadmovie LOUDER! SO I CAN HEAR YOU, a personal film about mourning for which she travelled with her crew trough Belgium and France to Spain.
In her current practice Laura seeks to create in order to challenge the viewer’s perception of reality. In doing so she doesn’t feel limited to one medium. She’s interested in directing / curating and writing. Besides that she’s also open for researching for others, so get in touch!
